Facing the competition of the newly announced Canon EOS M micro-SLR, the Nikon also rushes out the  new models of Nikon J2 to replace the old J1 mirrorless interchangeable digital camera. Nikon J2 digital camera maintains the 1-inch 10.1 million pixel CMOS sensor.  The rear 3-inch screen raised to 920 000 pixels, also the mode dial has creative mode. Creative mode includes panoramic, color selection, backlight mode etc.

The DMC-ZS20 has powerful 20x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 24-480mm), which is good for taking pictures of far distance object. The intelligent zoom can increase the zoom 2x with minimum distortion of picture quality. The wide angle lens 24 mm (35mm camera equivalent) can take wider shoot of scenes. Lens is LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR Lens, which is designed by Leica. The Panasonic's Nano Surface Coating boasts for this lens makes it has better clarity than ordinary coating. The built in image stablization system can suppress the hand shaking of camera which could make pictures become blurry. The 14.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor is newly developed for the DMC-ZS20 for even higher image quality. The DMC-ZS20 integrates Intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the iA Mode. Several still pictures consecutively shot at different exposure levels are overlaid to produce a single composite picture without whiteout (over-exposure) or blackout (under-exposure). The maximum ISO is 12,800 and the minimum is 160. The camera achieves 0.09 second fast Speed AF. It has a built-in flash and a hot shoe for putting an external view finder. The LUMIX GF5 features a newly developed 12.1 Mpx Live MOS sensor and redesigned Venus Engine for true-to-life images. LUMIX GF5 features a compact, lightweight body with built-in flash and a rubberized grip

Featuring an ultra high-speed Light Speed AF, the LUMIX GF5 can focus in approximately 0.09*¹ seconds. This combined with Touch AF control and high-speed burst shooting at 4 fps full resolution.

The kit lens has 14-42 mm zoom (28mm-84 mm equivalent) with maximum aperture f/3.5.  ISO can be set between 160-12,800. Shutter speed is between 60-1/4000.
