Leica Camera AG has unveiled the latest addition to its digital compact camera offerings and presents the Leica X Vario. Made in Leica Camera’s headquarters in Germany, the X Vario features a high-performance 16.5-megapixel (effective 16.1), APS-C format, CMOS image sensor, a zoom lens covering a range of focal lengths from 28 to 70 mm (35 mm equivalent) and Full-HD video recording capability. With several design and handling characteristics of the storied M-System, the ‘Made in Germany’ Leica X Vario offers great versatility and creative freedom.

The X Vario’s high performance image sensor is unusually large for a camera in its class. Combined with the Leica Vario Elmar 18-46 mm f/3.5-6.4 ASPH, it sets completely new standards for imaging quality in the compact segment with outstanding exposures in all situations. The Leica X Vario is the world’s first compact camera to combine a large, APS-C format, CMOS image sensor with a zoom lens.

Leica X is a fixed lens APS-C sensor camera. It features a 16.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Leica Vario-Elmar 18-46mm f/3.5-6.4 Lens, 28-70mm (35mm Equivalent).  The camera incorporates a3.0" 920k-dot wide-angle LCD monitor, full HD 1080 video recording at 30 fps, 11-point AF system, manual focus and manual exposure control, ISO 12500, up to 5 fps shooting and aluminum and magnesium alloy body.

Leica M-A Film Range Finder Camera

Leica M-A is a 35 mm mechanical film range -finder camera announced in 2014 Photokina. The camera is available in black or  silver chrome color. The M-System is a photographic legend which celebrating its 60th birthday in 2014. It is a mechanical camera without a light meter and does not use battery. There is a 0.72x Bright Line Viewfinder with selectable Image Field Frame Lines and focal Plane Shutter: Up to 1/1000 Sec.  The flash can sync at 1/50 Sec.  The lens is 16-135mm M-Mount Lenses.  On the rear there is a ISO reminder dial.  The top and cover is chromed bass.  The camera is made in Germany.

Leica T is Leica cheapest mirrorless lens interchangeable camera.  The  Leica T Mirrorless Digital Camera has featuring a 16.3 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor housed in a aluminum alloy unibody design with the Leica T lens mount for attaching optional lenses. The LCD features 1.3 million pixel 3.7" TFT touchscreen.

Leica X Vario - APS-C Mirroless Interchanges Lens Camera

On June 11, Leica officially released "Mini M" which is named Leica X Vario.  In addition to using a large size of the APS-C 1620 million pixels CMOS, X Vario camera for the first time also configures a 28-70mm equivalent zoom lens.  As the newest member of Leica of course maintains its camera aristocratic class price of US$3000 The camera uses metal body, and the top also features a traditional full flavor aperture and shutter dial. In addition to built-in pop-up flash, the camera also offers Hot Shoe for flash. X Vario can use the same EVF of Leica X2 and M Type 240. The Leica X Vario incorporates a Elmar 18-46 mm f/3.5- 6.4 ASPH zoom lens equivalent to a 35mm standard 28-70mm zoom.

 

In shooting, Leica X Vario has 16.2 million CMOS with high sensitive ISO 12500, while providing decent 5fps continuous shooting. The camera also supports 1080p @ 30fps in Full HD MP4 format film.

Luxirious Leica M 240 full frame mirrorless interchangeable lens digital camera

Leica M was announced in Photokina 2012 and features a full frame sensor. Leica have changed the previously used 18Mp CCD to a CMOSIS 24Mp CMOS.  This camera retires the Leica M9 and M9 P. The list price of the body is US$6950. Leica M 240 rundown features are:

Lecia New 3.8X Compact Digital Camera D-LUX6 Announced

Based on the information circulated in the web, I collected the information of Leica D-LUX6 for reference only. D-Lux 6 has 10.1mega pixel CMOS sensor with  sensitivity up to ISO 12800, with a 3.8 optical zoom lens, maximum aperture of F1.4. The D-Lux 6 comes with an aperture ring which allows users to adjust aperture values via the lens barrel. Leica new large aperture compact digital camera is announced with the following features:

Leica's New Camera 24 X V-Lux 4 Mega Zoom Digital Camera

Leica today introduced a portable digital camera with a 24x optical zoom V-Lux 4. The camera uses Leica Vario-Elmar 4.5 - 108 mm f/2.8 ASPH lens, the 35mm equivalent focal length of approximately 25-600mm. The lens is 14 groups of 11 lenses, including five aspherical lens. At wide angle it can reach 1cm macro shooting.  The lens supports a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the focal lengths. The V-Lux 4 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor has 12.1 million effective pixels. In addition to shooting picture, it also supports 1920x1080 60P video capture. In addition, V-Lux 4 has panoramic, HDR and 3D scene mode. Shutter speed is of 1/4000 seconds to 60 seconds and the sensitivity range of ISO100-6400.

Leica will announced the Leica M10 digital camera on September 17

In accordance with DPnet, Leica on September 17, that is, (before the opening of the Photokina exhibition) will hold a press conference to launch the number of new products, including the M10 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, S3 DSLR, D-Lux6 compact digital camera, V-Lux4, the redesigned Summicron-M28mm f / 2 ASPH. and new 8mm Summilux-M f/1.4 lens may also introduce. M10  is likely to adopt the 24 million pixel Teledyne DALSA full-size sensor. S3 DSLR will continue to maintain a 37.5 million pixel  with a re-designed sensor which can lead to better image quality.

Introduction
The Leica X2 is a compact digital camera with APS-C sensor (16.2 MP) and a fixed 24mm F/2.8 lens. Most of the entry level DSLR digital cameras have the same APS-C sensor, which means Leica X2 digital camera may produce the same good quality picture like an entry level DSLR digital camera.  Leica camera has always been pricey. This Leica X2 digital camera costs about US$2,000.

History of Leica Leica is the company invented the 35 mm film camera.  Many existing well known camera manufacturer are copy cat of Leica cameras or use it as a design baseline.
